Restylane™ provides a smooth, natural look and feel—so everyone will notice but no one will know!

What is Restylane / Facial Filler Treatments made of?

Restylane™/ Facial Filler Treatment is the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non- animal based hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin.

Where can Restylane / Facial Filler Treatments be used?

It is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (Nasalabial folds)

Restylane is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Restylane™ gel is injected under the skin to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth, and as a filler for hands.

With Restylane™ the injection process takes only about 15 minutes and results are immediate. There is  minimal recovery and downtime, you can step into your our office for treatment and step right back into your life.

How often should I have Restylane treatments done?

Treatments are typically schedule twice a year. Having a follow-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect.

How is Restylane different from BOTOX Cosmetic?

Restylane is a natural cosmetic filler that plumps the skin to smooth away facial wrinkles. In contrast, BOTOX Cosmetic is a drug that relaxes the muscles underlying wrinkles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving both treatments in different areas of the face.

As we age, our skin changes. Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. With Restylane™ injectable gel, you don't have to just sit back and let it happen.

The Procedure

Before receiving treatment, we advise you should stop taking Aspirin, Advil,  Vitamin E supplements, Fish Oil supplements, Green Tea, Omega 3 Fatty Acids,  and Flax Seed Oil as these can increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site and may also lengthen your healing time.  Please advise me of any other medications you are taking which could interfere with your treatment, and these medications should be avoided. If you have any health concerns, make sure you share this with your prescribing doctor before stopping the medication and proceeding with treatments.

Before procedure topical numbing cream may be used , or a dental block as requested by a patient. Fillers are injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple, convenient and the results are practically instantaneous. Treatment time is approximately 20-30 minutes.

The results are seen immediately , there may be some redness for a few days. Restylane® lasts 6 to 9 months.

When used with BOTOX®  long-term results are enhanced.

After Care

Restylane® aftercare is simple and does not generally interfere with the daily routines of patients. Patients should avoid over exposure to heat and sunlight, as they might increase swelling and bruising at the injection site.  We suggest chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, laser skin tightening, and other laser enhancements should be avoided that day as there is a chance that they may cause inflammation. Post-treatment pain should be minimal. It can be common following Restylane® treatment to have swelling and redness in the area, though this should subside in the first few days after the injection. Healing time varies from person to person, some may experience redness and swelling slightly longer than others.

Please Note: If you are considering dermal fillers before a social event such as an important dinner, wedding, or social engagement we would advise against doing the procedure on the same day to make allowances for mild redness or swelling or possible bruising.

Natural Tips

Here are some all-natural over-the-counter remedies for discomfort. These tips help deal with minor bruises and swelling.

Tea bag:

Place a cooled tea bag on a bruise and leave it there for an extended period to help is heal faster (the best type would be comfrey, if you have it)

Vinegar:

Soak a cloth with white vinegar and place it on your bruise for up to 60 minutes (cut it with distilled water if you don't like the smell).

Vitamin K:

Eat leafy green vegetables days before fillers and you'll be more resistant to bruising. Aim for 60-80 mcg a day without taking supplements (for example, 1/4 cup broccoli has about 105 mcg, 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise has 11 mcg)

Witchhazel:

Place a cloth soaked with distilled witch hazel to the area of the body that is swollen.

Ice packs:

Always the old standby. Using them will reduce any redness and swelling
